The University Of Michigan's College Of Engineering has been awarded a five-year, $10-million grant to pursue, among other things, this concept spy bat. The grant establishes the U-M Center for Objective Microelectronics and Biomimetic Advanced Technology, called COM-BAT for short.

In another sad turn of events for the standard brick and mortar stores, Sharper Image has filed for Bankruptcy protection. After several years of declining sales they are finally packing it in.

This has to be one of the coolest apps we've seen for the iPhone. iAno is a newly released iPhone application that turns your iPHone into a piano. As you can see in the video, iAno provides a multi-touch piano that you can really play (sorta). It has a four-octave keyboard that can play 5 notes at the same time. The keyboard is navigated with arrow keys above the keyboard.
iAno was devloped by a developer going by the name of Mr Aardvark. Very cool!

If you fly Continental airlines in the next three months, and have a connection in Houston, you'll likely be able to take part in a pilot program that allows passengers to board flights using just a cellphone or PDA instead of a paper boarding pass. The three-month pilot program launched Tuesday at Houston's Intercontinental Airport. If the test is successful, the program could expand nationwide.

Here is a video demonstration of the HTC Shift. The HTC Shift is a UMPC that includes a program called SnapVUE which gives contacts, calendar, email, weather and other nice features in an instant on interface. SnapVUE seems to be a scaled down version of Windows Mobile.

Best Buy is being sued by a customer who hired the Geek Squad to come to her house to fix her computer. The customer says the Geek Squad employee placed a cell phone in the customer's bathroom and filmed her taking a shower. Luckily the customer noticed the recording light on the phone when she came out of the shower and managed to get the memory card out of the phone. She took it to a local cell phone store and they helped her view the video.

How would you like to have your iPod nano explode while you're charging it. This happened recently to one poor user while he was charging his iPod nano via his PC. The extra bad news for him is that his nano is out of warranty. While charging the nano via his PC it simply exploded. The force apparently knocked the iPod out of the cradle and to the ground. It started smoking and sparkling until he unplugged it. Yikes....read more
